Luray Caverns

For Memorial Day weekend Nathan and I decided to go visit Luray Caverns. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast and had a relaxing time.

Here I am all ready to go out for dinner:

In the caverns. I thought it would be in a mountain, but all the caverns are underground.

There is an organ that plays using the stalactites.

There was a puddle under all of these, and the reflection looked so cool.

We also visited an old car museum. I want this one.

We passed Yellowstone Park and stopped to visit Yogi

It was a great weekend away!

Philly Day 2 and 3

Day 2 was our fun day. We started off on a Duck Tour of Philly:

Then we went to Dave and Busters for lunch. We got game gards, and look - I hit the jackpot!

That afternoon we spent some time on South Street. While there, I visited Sweet Freedom Bakery. It is a gluten-free, vegan, refined-sugar free, etc bakery. Doesn't sound like it would be very good, but it was DELICIOUS! I went a little crazy. Some of the items I tried were: cupcakes (the Neapolitan was the best), cinnamon rolls (to die for),  cookies filled with frosting, doughnuts, and breads. I wish there was a place like that near me!

Then, we were walking around and came across a "Magic Garden". Basically, this artist took a bunch of trash/recycle items, and made a HUGE display. It was really weird, and I don't get it, but whatever...

That night we had a dinner/dance and awards ceremony. We ended up with three awards! Best Orchestra, Best Instrumental Group, and Best School Music Program! We also ended up getting 1st and 2nd place (I brought 2 orchestras).

Nathan came to visit in time to get the awards:

Day 3

We went home! Back to school the next day. But it was a very fun trip.

School Trip To Philly Day 1

Last weekend I took 38 students to Philadelphia for to perform in a competition.

On the way up we stopped at the rest area. I was amazed at the amount of gluten-free/vegan snacks that they had. There were two other sides to this display.

When we got to Philly, we went to Hard Rock for lunch. Here are my wonderful chaperones:

and one table of kids:

After we went to the Abramson Center (Jewish Home) and gave a short concert:

Later that evening we had our competition at a local high school, and then had free time at the hotel.
